I don't get it are there laws in place in Europe that makes this so? I vaguely recall aspects of Steam infringing on European law but I don't exactly remember the details. Or are Europeans more unwilling to buy digitally compared to Americans? I don't know. I'm pretty frustrated because Wolfenstein Old Blood is coming out soon but we get dicked in the US with digital only while Europe gets retail versions. They got one for Nazi Zombie Trilogy a few months back too. They also had one for smaller games like Ratchet and Clank Quest for Booty, Wipeout HD, Siren Blood Curse, etc while we get fucked. I'm really not a fan of digital games. PT reminded me why since I forgot to download the demo and now I can't play it ever again :/ I'm forced to use digital on Steam, but I only tolerate it if digital is my only option possible for that game. I'm going to import Wolfenstein Old Blood but it's just lame it's going to cost close to double the $20 price tag to do so. Edited by NinjaPenguin8969, Apr 30 2015, 04:26 PM.

I think this really just comes down to acceptance. The think the US, as a whole, has accepted digital distribution a little quicker than the rest of the world so companies feel more comfortable doing a digital only release. Which is kind of odd considering we have one of the crappier internet infrastructures in the modern world. Than on the other end you have Japan who is afraid of the internet or something and has a really good infrastructure.

Yeah, I think the US as a whole is lazier than the other countries so we just download digitally when we want to play I guess. Or just the preloading feature is appealing to those who wish to play the game ASAP. I am not like this though, I'd rather have a physical copy any day when preordering. Sometimes review embargo is not until the day of release, so I'm not able to tell how good the game is. If I downloaded it digitally, I'm screwed if its not great. I usually end up waiting for reviews and sales before doing any digital purchase. I am skeptical of spending more than $10 on a digital game unless if its a franchise I am in love with aka Halo. But, Halo does physical releases and they had a free DL of Spartan Assault on Xbone. I definitely wish we were less tolerable of this whole digital download nonsense in the US. My internet SUCKS in Wyoming. My neighborhood doesn't even have fiber optics yet so we dont get advertised speed. Me and my brother both use internet constantly and it becomes a big hassle when he wants to stream and I want to game online. Edited by ShadowBlaze, Apr 30 2015, 06:07 PM.

I'm glad that PAL region is getting physical releases. I have imported quit a few titles on the PS3 since the console is region free because I would rather have the retail disk. As for why... I agree with Unclever that people here for the most part seem to accept digital downloads. |
