The opening to one of my all time favorite games! Listen for those DBZ sound effects lol.

Still an absolute classic to this day! This one still holds up to me sooooo bad ass!

I still find myself humming this one every once in a while lol.

Just to name a few. Soul Calibur blew my mind when I first seen it. I had to watch it at least 5 more times before starting the game.

My list kinda sucks since I don't recall too many. I always skipped them when I was younger. I have a bunch of favorites from modern stuff from Gamecube till now though.

Haha looking back at this it's so stupid, but man when I was 4 or 5 years old it made me pumped up!

GoldenEye; wish it had the menu music in this too.

Turok 2; mainly for the Iguana dual wielding shotguns lol. The second half was cool since it made the world look so enormous.

Streets of Rage mainly for the music.

Gamer. Graphic Designer. Geek.

I know it's not really an opener to a game, but I used to put this on and just let it sit on the TV for hours.

After a night full of multiplayer with my friends back home, I would just let this stay up while I slept too.

00:47 and 1:41~ish always hit me in the feels.

Okay, I'm all teared up now... Next...

This. I loved listening to this games menu music when I was doing other things like homework or just checking stuff out on the computer. Halo has always had a great orchestrated soundtrack for the truly epic feel. One of my very favorite shooter franchises to date.

This one was my favorite growing up by far. I never skipped it. I loved how they announce everything in one swoop and have this epic animation to unveil the characters so seamlessly. Also, the music is just plain awesome. This is my favorite Crash game by a mile. Too bad my disc has a chunk missing :(

I second this. This always got me hype when I was about to jump online for some Big Team Battle (Valhalla hopefully) so I could laser me some fools. This game will always stick with me as it was my first true online multiplayer game I really got into.

The theme song and intro alone prompted me to want to want to buy this. I picked it up not to long ago and have yet to dive in.

@NinjaPenguin Awesome picks!!! Also, Turok 2 is absolutely amazing! I played the crap out of it when it came out. I feel like Turok 2 and Shadow Man deserves a bit more love, out of the N64 library. Two phenomenal games!

I'm probably forgetting loads but here are some of my favourites:

Also, this is obligatory to mention:

Seen some really cool ones on the here that I was planning to add (like Wild Arms and FF VI). Here are some other ones I really like.

Ys 2

Lunar on the Mega CD (Japanese version starts at the :47 mark)

Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War

Suikoden III (Though I have never played it, it's pretty damn cool.)

Metal Gear Solid 1

And that's all I got at the moment...

@Majin, GK2 has so much amazing FMV and terrible acting.

Fooling that zoo keeper with the cassettes...priceless.
Making a clay paw print front random crap lying around...actually wanted to cry.

LOL! The bad acting is part of what makes it so great!

I love that game even if some of the puzzles are crazy!

Gabriel Knight 1 actually had a good intro. I love that piano tune.

Anyhow, as for my favorite intros: I really like the Final Fantasy 7 opening. Other memorable ones

Fallout 2: War.. war never changes. Both 1 and 2 had very memorable intros

Tekken 2 opening: So groovy. Tekken 3 and 5 had also really kick ass openings, but I like Tekken 2 the most (probably childhood nostalgia)

System Shock: music+SHODAN, animation is kinda crappy

Marvel vs Capcom: Epilepsy, so energetic

Deus Ex: Epic music and dialogue even though the voice acting and animations are... not so epic

I have no Mouth and I must scream: HATE

Sam and Max Hit the road: Funniest intro I can recall

I also like Snatcher (that saxophone music) and many Wrestling games intros (I guess live action footage doesn't count).

I'm guessing you're referring to the Sega Saturn version? (2:52 mark)

It has that 80s news segment vibe to me. I love it.

Sega CD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuyUShtcn94&t=3m51s I also think that the part where the narrator says "Gillian Seed, estimated age: 31" is really cool.
And yeah, Snatcher is pure 80s (which is unsurprising given that it was originally made in the 80s :D). I love that more gritty aesthethic of late 80s/early 90s Japanese games, when they seemingly took more visual inspiration from American movies than from anime.

Ah, okay. Yeah, I honestly dislike a majority of music and movies from the 80s. However, the sci-fi movies from the 80s were pretty awesome, which, even though I have never played Snatcher, I really want to@_@

These aren't the droids we're looking for.

This is still my all time favorite intro. An amazing song from an amazing soundtrack from an amazing game.

Shout out to Kharnovore for posting the Dungeon Keeper intro - brought back a lot of memories xD

For mainly nostalgic reasons, the opening of Legend of Zelda for the NES will always be great to me.
