Surprised this hasn't been made yet aside Nintendo. Post what you think about E3 and your favorite games shown :]

So far I'm beyond excited for Doom 4, Fallout 4, and Rare's Pirate game and Collection! Tomb Raider also looks stellar and I hope the final product looks that good.

That's what I find problematic, not just in Doom's case: new games taking the title of an old game, but not replicating their style or gameplay. Like Western developed Silent Hill games or the various reboots of classic franchises we've seen over the last 5 years. Of course Doom 4 isn't straying as far from the source material as something like Syndicate, but I still think it's disingenous to market something as something it's not (like Doom 3).

But on the other hand, there's enough of quality .WADs to last you a life time, so it's not like there's a dire need for a "Doom 2-II" (A proper Quake sequel would be another story!). So it's understandable if it's not going to be like classic Doom, but a bummer. Why taint classic game&movie franchises with unnessecary, modernized sequels, prequels and reboots? The fact that there's double jumping gives me hope, though lately many FPS games have started introducing players again to double/wall jumping.

The thing about those takedowns where you watch a short animation is that they look cool when you're killing one enemy, but what about when you use it in a room full of monsters? Do they temporarily freeze time/make you immune for a few seconds like in many games? Because that's just bad design. It's too early to tell how they work in this game though.
You can ignore them, but there's two flaws in that line of reasoning. First off, the fact that they're there to begin with are indicative of what kind of mindset the designers have (Doom 4 shouldn't be a modern FPS, we have enough of those as it is). And good game design has no place for superficial features: if you can ignore entire gameplay systems (in the context of an action game like this), chances are that the game isn't very well or thoughtfully designed. If it is, then you're handicapping yourself by not using the take downs. In most games take downs are a style over substance feature with little to no thought put behind them (how they affect the gameplay/overall design), which is something that does not fit a franchise like Doom (simple and elegant design, similar to games like Mario 3 and Sonic 2)

Yeah, its all up in the air at this point. I have a feeling though that they will allow you to take damage on the executions though, so you have to plan them out or use them more strategically. At least that's what I hope they do. Or at least have the takedowns have I-frames on easy but on hard its the opposite. But I have beaten games that offer takedowns just fine without them (Halo 4, Gears of War series, etc). I just hope the game turns out well. I usually like both the original games and the reboots.
Games I have for trade!

Looking back I'm kinda disappointed in Sony's conference. Just about everything is next year. What is there for me to play exclusive wise besides God of War III Remaster (which I will probably buy), and Uncharted Remaster (which I probably wont buy) for this year?

If they made doom 4 with the same gameplay as doom 1-2, they'd be making a shit game. It worked back when it was new, not any more. The only thing I don't know about as far as doom goes is the level editor. It seems rather limited. Even though the average person will be able to use it, I think it looks like it might limit the people who do the good mods.

Other than that, Fallout 4, Fallout 4, Fallout 4, Fallout 4, Fallout 4, and Fallout 4.

Did I say Fallout 4?

Doom 2 is a better game than 95% of FPSs released during the last 10 years, so that would make pretty much all modern FPS games shit by default.
Doom and Doom 2 had great level design, espescially given the fact that mouselook hadn't become standardized yet. Most modern FPS games are absolutely pitiful in comparison, linear corridors and scripted events galore. As for gameplay, yeah naturally it's more limited when compared to games that followed as it's 2.5D, wasn't designed for mice and was one of the first FPS games to boot, but the Doom engine is amazing and they nailed shooting feedback and movement pretty damn well, far better than most shooters made before or since. Even if movement is a bit slippery (better than walking on tar). It's to shooters what Mario/Sonic are to platformers, simple but nails the basic gameplay formula almost perfectly.

So no, I don't see how making a game like Doom with modern graphics would be any more "shit" than a proper Sonic 4 (not that half assed thing we got), New Super Mario Bros or a remake of Final Fantasy 7. You know what would be shit though? Making Fallout 4 with the same gameplay as Fallout 3 - if you want to criticize an older game for its faults, there's far more flaws in the gameplay&design of Fallout 3 than Doom 1/2. Horrible HP bloat, unsatisfying weapon feedback, out of place VATS etc (not to even mention the writing&RPG systems, which were far more weaker than the shooting&exploration parts)

I'm looking forward to the new Call of duty. It looks great! The campaigns have always been fun, and so has the mulitiplayer. Alot of people don't like Call of duty, but I'm not afraid to show it. I'm also looking forward to Fallout 4. I think with its open world and 500+ gameplay for the story is going to be great. I never really liked the old Fallouts though. The way that it feels it just feels old. I'm just a fan of the newer fallouts, so if they are like that, I would ok with it. I liked all the elements of fallout 3 and NV, so they should keep all of those elements that made those games great in 4. Also mods for Fallout 4 on Xbox is kick ass.

It think this is going to be a great year for games. New Fallout, New Call of Duty, New Tomb Raider, and new Halo. Just another reason to pick up an Xbox One if you haven't yet.

I'm excited for it too. COD switching to PS4 is big news for me since that timed DLC determines which system I buy it for. The one time I didn't do that was for Ghosts and waiting a month for those maps kinda kills the fun. Looking forward to BlackOps 3 on PS4 :] The first BlackOps game is probably my most played COD game ever.
