Sega Does What Nintendon't

I have had my PS4 for one week now and finally got to play some Destiny after wanting to try it myself since it launched. I play a lot of massively multiplayer online games so I was looking forward to this especially since Bungie was behind it.

Sadly I was let down by this game and feel like Bungie really dropped the ball on it. I don't totally hate the game but there are so many things that could of been better. The loading times are beyond ridiculous. I could live with them if the game had larger areas with more online people running around but everything in the game is instanced with very little interaction with many people. I was just expecting more of a MMO experience from the game but really its all just a bunch of instanced up areas and after you do the mission there you never go back. For me even games that didn't boast MMO like online interaction such as Borderlands has more of a MMO feel just because of the open world.

Destiny does look better than Defiance but that is all it has going for it in my opinion when you compare the two games.

Defiance is a open world were you interact with a large amount of people doing events like Arkfalls fighting hundreds of non player characters and sometimes a huge boss at the end. Defiance also has lots of instanced dungeons like most MMO's do were you can for a party to clear the instance of trash before having to fight a big bad at the end.

Anyone that hasn't gave Defiance a try should now as you can play it for free. You just have to download the client from Trions webpage.

Destiny has public events, bounties and other activities to complete together with people you find in its worlds (Mars, Venus, Earth, and Moon). If you level up to max level cap (at the moment its 34) then you will hit each area of the game many times and do a variety of things you otherwise wouldn't have if you had just finished the main story. This game + DLC is what makes it decent. Alone its pretty bland. Destiny is also a game to be experienced with 1 or 2 friends with you at all times as that is an available feature.

Destiny is open world in a way. When you are on missions, parts of the map will change or different enemies will spawn, but you can still go around and do as you please. Once you leave the mission area, you can go on a patrol of one of the planets and explore it in its entirety finding chests or new enemy spawns/etc. Plus if you have the expansion, a certain race of enemy will invade a certain area on the planet and will allow you a chance to earn a special chest if you defeat everything that spawns in. This is fun to do with friends. Also add in Destinys PvP. Never tried Defiance but it just looked meh to me. At least Destiny has really nice art and music.

I don't like either. Destiny had solid mechanics but was monotonous as fuck. While Defiance has weak mechanics but a little more variety than Destiny.

I guess i'm being too hard on the game its just in my mind I thought the game was going to be more MMO like and really be Defiance 2.0. I had been playing the game with a friend but after playing for about a week we decided to get the expansions to Defiance and have started playing it again because we feel its the better game in every aspect other than graphics.
