Decided to start a thread regarding preordering games after seeing the pyramid scheme of a system Square Enix is doing for Deus Ex Mankind Divided. Here it is if you haven't seen it. Recruit your friends to preorder with you or you'll never get all the content in the game, and we'll release it 4 days early if you help us achieve our pre-sale goals for our investors.

Is there any reason why you still preorder video games? I'm not crucifying anyone just curious what your reasons are. I typically never preorder unless there is some kind of money attached. I couldn't give a fuck less about skins, weapon packs, extra level, etc that they try to use to sucker people in with. In the case of Metal Gear Solid V and soon to be Halo 5 I am preordering because Best Buy has a $10 credit attached and in these cases I'm 99.9% sure I'm going to like the game. Something like what's happening with Deus Ex just completely turns me off in every way.

I will rarely preorder. Once a year maybe, only if it is a game I am die hard for.
I have KH3 and R&C reboot ordered, other then that I will preorder Tekken 7, nothing else I need that bad.

The only games that I tend to preorder are the ones that will be a pain in the ass to find (weird jrpgs) or special additions that I like. I only have two games on preorder right now is the special Persona 4 Dancing all night and Corpse Party : Blood Drive.

Ds Games!

It's been forever since I have. I find I just can't pay full price for games when 90% of them drop in value so fast, and pre order bonuses usually don't entice me.

If it's a limited item, that I want, then I'll pre-order it. I like bonuses, especially physical ones as well. Honestly, Atlus is probably responsible for half my pre-orders lol. I don't go out of my way to buy games on release anyway, unless it is an RPG (I feel strongly about supporting the genre).

For whatever reason the gaming industry seems to put big importance a pre-order number. So they are going to continue to do stuff like that. To be honest I didn't see anything to outrages in those preorder bonuses. I don't like using DLC item in RPGs because it make the beginning of games feel to easy and kind of cheap. Maybe the extra mission but I having seen a bonus mission that 1) you couldn't get later on and 2) those mission never seem to be anything too special. As long as I don't feel like I am getting screwed by not preordering I perfectly OK with it.

I tend to preorder games because of the Best Buy thing to. I don't think I have ever preordered a game for bonus DLC. I would have to say I preordered Tales of Xillia for a art book but I can't think of the thing before that that I preordered for a physical bonus.

^ Which thank you btw for the Best Buy recommendation. I've pretty much completely dropped Amazon for Best Buy due to 20% off plus credits. Forza 6 is only going to cost me $35 day one...and I'll get points towards more credits :]

I just see Square Enix's Deus Ex plan as screwing gamers over. We're basically getting the game late if you think about. Recruit your friends as part of a pyramid scheme, and get our presales to top levels and we'll throw you a crumb and release it 4 days early. No, fuck you. That 4 days early should be the damn release date and every award on each tier should be unlocked. What the hell. I own you game companies...you don't own me. Piss me off long enough and I'll just boycott your product. Kinda like that cunt Phil Fish. I don't care how great his game is, I will not support it even if it's 99 cents.
