![]() I never even managed to come near finishing Fallout 3 and haven't played New Vegas, yet I am still pretty excited for this. But I also don't have a PS4, Xbone, or proper gaming PC for it, so I'll probably have to wait a while to play it anyway. Who else is excited? Edited by pokemonzrpg, Nov 7 2015, 01:25 AM.

I'm about 10 hours into Fallout 4 and it's been a smooth experience for me thus far. Bethesda games are heavy on content and short on depth, and Fallout 4 is really no exception. I am enjoying the act of playing the game but I have yet to get emotionally invested in any of the characters. Most characters I have interested with are just vehicles for giving me side-quests, so I have yet to really care about any of them. That was also my feeling towards Skyrim and I loved that game, so this isn't exactly something that ruins the experience for me. Gameplay-wise, I love the exploration, looting and finding secrets. These have always been the strength of Bethesda games and I can lose hours into just going off and blazing my own trail. The crafting system at the settlements is also a lot of fun, though it's a cumbersome system to learn at first. Building homes from scrap is surprisingly enjoyable. The combat is where I'm hit and miss with Fallout 4, since it retains some of the same frustrations from Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Some refinements have been made to the free-firing mechanics, but it's still imprecise, and the game almost forces you to rely on the VATS system, which is not always responsive. The combat isn't broken or unplayable, but it's not a shining strength in this game. Overall though, it's a fun game and I'm looking forward to investing more time into it. The only bugs I've run into are a few broken dialogue segments and the occasional floating corpse. No crashes or quest-breaking glitches to report as of yet. |

Fallout 4 is pretty friggin good. I don't really care about characters in video games that much, I don't play many RPGs anyway. I just love exploring and finding stuff, and doing things to make my character better. Protip for PC users, turn off TXAA, Screen Space Reflection and turn god rays to medium to save them frames. |

I can't wait to play Fallout 4 on my Wii U. The menus are really easy to navigate, imo. |

At first I didn't think I minded that new way they do dialog chooses (much more similar to the way Mass Effect does it). The more I play the more I disliking it. most of the time whatever dialog option you choose don't seem to matter. The times that it does it is marked with yellow, orange, or red text (indicating how likely the odds are to get it. I assume the your charisma helps you odds but with a charisma of 8 out of 10 I am still failing a lot of them. This might have been OK with me because your character talks now. You get less option but you get a character with a personality. The thing is I don't think my character has a personality. I am no more attached to my in 4 then I was to my none taking character in 3 and New Vegas. I also think this is my least favorite world of the 3. For all the improvement to gameplay and loot I just don't seem to like this world as much as the other 2. For the record it is still going to be on my top 5 for the year. |

My brother is in love with Bethesda RPGs, he's played Skyrim for so many hours it's ridiculous. I told him about Fallout, and at first he was going to buy it but my dad saw the PEGI 18+ certificate, so it didn't happen... a couple of months later and he got it and really enjoyed it anyway lol. Now he's bought New Vegas too. I'm sure he'll love 4, but I'm wondering about if it's really worth it to wish for a PS4 for christmas... We'll get it eventually anyway because of Uncharted 4, plus he doesn't want to buy new stuff because it's expensive. As for me, I'm almost entirely retro unfortunately. |

I am cirrus, is Skyrim not PEGI 18+. Not that I have ever put much stock into metacritic but I just happened to look at it today and it has a User Review rating of 5.3, that floored me. So after reading some of the review it seems that the main complaint is that the game isn't an RPG. I completely disagree with that. First well I do admit that you could go through this game like a normal shooter and never use VATS, something I don't think you can do in the other 2 games, I don't think they have diminished VATS either. Like I said earlier in this topic, I didn’t want this to become a FPS but I also understand that big budget games have to appeal to large audiences. Making it passable to play it like a normal FPS the most popular genre at this time but still keeping that VATS system relevant if you want to use it is a perfectly reason compromise. There seems to be a lot of complains about the quest being go to this area and kill a bunch of things. I don’t know that don’t seem to be that fare off from the other 2 games. Complains about the plot not being very good, well that plots were not very good in the other 2 games so …Surprise. Loot in this game is way better and I really like the way they do that crafting in this game. I one think that I did agree with is that the dialog options are dumbed down in this game, something I have already expressed a dislike of. Well this will most likely prevent it from being my favorite Fallout game I don’t think it is enough to dismiss that game like a lot of people seem to be doing. |

The dialogue option simplicity is actually helping me to get into this game a lot more than Fallout 3 or NV. As for mass appeal and being able to play like a FPS. FPS style play is all good until you're trying to run away from an enemy and your foot gets caught on a pebble or a twig or a leaf or something and you realize you can't move in any direction so you use your good ol' jump button to preform that "slo-mo 1 minute hop and stay stuck" maneuver, then you die being caressed in the enemies arms. Overall I'm loving the game, but like all the others it suffers from some major "clipping"(right word?) issues and wonky movement controls. Also, everytime I loot something, I end up pulling up my Pip Boy trying to back out of the loot menu. Every time I forget that you don't have to back out of the menus. Anyone else do that? |

It is, but I guess my parents somehow were more accepting of the medieval-type environment as opposed to Fallout's futuristic setting, plus fallout has automatic guns, Skyrim does not. But yeah, double standards I guess. Edited by Ternaldius, Nov 22 2015, 08:18 AM.

I'm almost 30 hours into it and this game has become an addiction. My experience in Fallout 4 closely mirrors that of Skyrim, in that the game isn't incredibly deep but the exploration and looting keeps me coming back. Finding that next best gun, piece of armor or interesting location tucked away in the corner of the map is the real pleasure of the game. The small details are also what make the game enjoyable. Seeing skeletons of people still stuck in whatever position they were in when the bomb fell, teddy bears in funny positions and little quirks in the world helps give this game a sense of personality that felt absent in the previous Fallout title. Like Skyrim, Fallout 4 is far from perfect and definitely has some wrinklies on the technical side, though my experience has been better than other people I know. The game has crashed on me twice, and there have been a few instances where the dialogue glitched out and prevented me from completing a mission. Thankfully, my tendency to manually save every few minutes has prevented that latter issue from becoming a major frustration. |

So in the beginning of the game I went scrap happy after discovering the crafting features, and scrapped everything in sight. I scrapped the armor racks in Sanctuary and at the Red rocket outside of Sanctuary because I didn't know you needed them to repair your armor... I chose a build with 1 star in Charisma... apparently in order to re-build these racks you need "Local Leader Rank 2" which is going to require roughly 8 more stars in Charisma for me, which doesn't flow with my desired build, or how I want to spend my next 8 levels... I guess I'll be repairing my armor at Cambridge Police Department... |

I only got to play about 4-5 hours of it before I broke my wrist. I enjoyed what I played so far. Of course I have no idea what I'm doing and haven't played enough to get a good feel for things. This is pretty much my first Fallout. My only minor complaint is that you literally have to be on top of an item sometimes for it to show up on screen. Like there could be a pencil on a desk and you have to have your crosshairs pointed right at it. |

It's a tad annoying. It'd be like playing a 1st person shooter and having to stop over a dead body, look down, zero in right on the ammo to get it to highlight, and then pick it up-- even though you know it's there when standing right on top of the body. I'm one to search every nook and cranny in games, but it felt like I was spending almost twice as long in areas than I normally would. Maybe I just didn't quite get used to it yet. |
