What're your Nintendo NX predictions regarding it's likely failure?; No bias

A 3rd party Nintendo, is a better Nintendo.

Let's get jiggy with it -- the NX will be out in a year or two, and everyone's asking how it'll preform. Throw out a prediction, will ya!

The Device

The device will be similar to an Apple TV, or Amazon Fire TV. The controller will be a handheld system, as powerful as the Wii U, and will have the ability to stream to the TV device either locally, or through Wifi.

The Games

Assuming it'll release in 2016, a new 3D Mario should arrive on launch. Since Galaxy, a new one has been put forward every 3 years, so it's release seems likely. Also, to win over the older audience, too, Nintendo will release Metroid Prime 5. They skip MP 4 because MP 4 was trash, just like Nintendo. Many of fan will be upset. The game will be multiplayer focused, like Halo, and will do very well in the MLG FPS community. After that, the obvious: Smash 5, Mario Kart 9, Mario Party: Who Cares Anymore, Splatoon: Sperm Whale, Pikmin 4: Too Late, and then a port of Super Mario Sunshine, but with inverted colors.

The Sales

It'll obviously fail and Nintendo will go third party.

It will be a Nintendo console. That's all I can come up with, too much nonsense clickbait, etc.

No doubt there will be "innovation" and a "new way to interact with games". Just a guess, anyway.

I hope not. I don't think they can handle the risk of making another Wii U.

That's their bread and butter. They try to change things up every time they release a new system, rather than just iterating on the same concepts with more powerful hardware. Uuuuunfortunately it looks like they're not headed in a great direction this time around. In the face of people complaining about the U's touch pad, they've apparently decided to double down on the idea in the worst way possible.

^^^ is this in reference to the recent patent for a touchscreen pad?

I dont think much will come of this. It wont be the de facto control scheme for a new console. Purely cos everyone has mobiles, they must know that its an unweildy, awkward way to play.

Yeah. And I hope to god nothing comes of it. I like buttons. I hate gaming on my phone. Fingers obscuring what's on the screen, unreliable touch controls, and a lack of tactile feedback. :/
