Here is a short list of games that I'm looking forward to this year. I haven't researched it much-- this is off the top of my head. Hopefully no delays. The Last Guardian Uncharted 4 WiLD (seems interesting) Zelda Hot Shots Golf Doom (been awhile for me) Bloodborne is the only "Souls" game that I've played, but Dark Souls 3 looks to be on my radar. Street Fighter 5, too. |

Mirrors Edge 2 FarCry Primal Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Plants vs. Zambies Garden Warfare 2 Starfox Ratchet and Clank Gears 4 (if it comes out this year) Battlefield 5 (if it comes this year) I'm really excited for PvZ GW2. If you guys haven't already try out the first game. It's such a fun relaxing multiplayer game. It's one of those games where K/D ratio doesn't matter and it's just a good time. I watched a video on both Firewatch and The Witness. Firewatch looked interesting, and the video I watched made me want to know what was going to happen next. The Witness looked like a cool adventure-ish puzzle-type game, with inspiration from Riven/Myst, although visually the graphics are different and more cartoon-like than realistic and it's not a point and click style of game. I only watched the beginning "tutorial" part, but it was enough to catch interest. |

There are too many games coming out this year that I'm looking forward to. Zelda Wii U - In addition to Twilight Princess HD, 2016's 30th Anniversary of Zelda looks to be just as good as 2011's 25th. Though opinions are very divided on Skyward Sword, I thought it was among the best three of the whole series. Zelda Wii U looks to shake things up as much as Skyward Sword did, though in an entirely different way. Instead of motion controls and puzzle-worlds, Zelda Wii U appears to take an A Link Between World approach...an entirely open world, dungeons in whatever order you want, and freedom, freedom, freedom! Whatever comes of the game, I am on that day one, no questions. Final Fantasy XV - Possibly even more hyped for me than Zelda Wii U, this game continues to look more and more spectacular as time goes on. I haven't been able to play Episode Duscae (don't have a PS4 yet, which will be remedied this year), but that might not be such a bad thing as it's kept me from getting too spoilery about it. I know a lot of themes and details of the game, but I've attempted to keep it as vague as possible, knowing only things such as "This game is very different from the trailer shown 10 years ago" and "the friendship of Noctis and his three bodyguards is vital to the telling of the story" and things like that. I can't wait to finally experience what will likely be Square Enix's newest masterpiece. Persona 5 - For someone who has played so little in the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, I sure do love everything this series is about and stands for. I've only clocked about 8 or 9 hours into Persona 4, and that was a couple of years ago now, but I loved every waking second I was playing that game. The newest game looks slick, gorgeous, and is shaping up to be quite the competition to FFXV for JRPG of the year. I've also tried to stay spoiler free about this game, too, but I love the style every trailer has exuded. The menus are GORGEOUS. The character designs are AWESOME. And I love that this game is taking place in the city rather than a large town in the sticks! Genei Ibun Roku #FE - The Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem project. This has received a lot of mixed reactions from everyone. It's sold...okay in Japan, and it got a 34/40 from Famitsu. It's guaranteed to sell much better here, though, simply due to the rabid JRPG fanbase over here and that we have a larger population than Japan. Still, I love the art design, the music, and the creativity of the crossover. They're not just copy/pasting everything; they use the characters and such in a very unique way that's not just a simple crossover, and I like that. JRPG fever is real this year! The Last Guardian - The successor to ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. Another long developmental cycle. Another long wait. However, everything about this looks spectacular again from Team Ico, and I can't wait to play it. Final Fantasy Explorers - A slick-looking Action RPG for the 3DS that throws in old characters for the hell of it as summons. It's coming out in just a few days, too, but I can't afford it just yet. Here's hoping I can play it soon, especially with all the online functionality. If only I could tear myself away from Xenoblade Chronicles X... Star Fox Zero - The visuals look dated? Really don't care when it's running that smoothly. And personally, I think the game looks really slick and stylized. The actual graphical power doesn't mean nearly as much as the art style does, and that looks great, sticking to a style familiar to Star Fox's past. Additionally, motion controls aren't required in the game, so precision shooting can be done any way the player sees fit. I can't wait to see how Platinum has treated Star Fox alongside Nintendo. Horizon: Zero Dawn - The concept alone is intriguing. Robot dinosaurs that you get to attack? Yes please. It looks like a lot of fun. It'll be interesting to see Guerrilla Games take on something other than Killzone, though that series' track record is itself...spotty, though I admittedly have had zero interest in that series. Still, maybe this change of pace will be good for the company. NieR Automata - I still have to play the first NieR, but given how well much of this forum talks about it, I can't wait to play it...and then this one, too. It's gonna happen...I'm gonna play it this year, without a doubt! Still, given the meh critical reception of the first one, it's awesome that this got a sequel at all! Fire Emblem Fates - I really hope there's some way I can get my hands on that special edition at some point. Not having a job and having to still pay loans really makes it so that you can't invest in anything at all. It sucks. But even still, these games look amazing. Even though I haven't finished Awakening yet, I look forward to playing through it someday. Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma - The legendary storyteller Kotaro Uchikoshi is finally making a conclusion to one of the best stories crafted over the last few years. It started in 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors and continued in Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward, and though it seemed unlikely, he at last got funding to make a third game. You all owe it to yourselves to experience these games as I cannot stress enough how excellent they are. Visual Novels continue to reach out into the mainstream, and fantastic experiences like this one are the reason why. I can't wait! Nights of Azure - A niche title being developed by Gust, who is responsible for the Atelier series. I have never delved too deeply into that franchise, but I know it has its diehard fans, and I can appreciate why...the charming art style, the fun, light-hearted stories, and the crafting mechanics. This game has a distinctly niche identity like those games, and it looks fun. Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam - This game is already out! I really want to play it, as it looks to be as charming and goofy as any of the other games in both the M&L and Paper Mario series'. I still have yet to play Dream Team, even though I own it, though...and Sticker Star...well, I guess this'll have to go on the back-burner. No Man's Sky - I really just want to go around and explore a galaxy in a starship. It seems like way too much fun, even though the "point" or "purpose" is still lost on me for this game. It just looks like fun, and that's all I really want from it. Bravely Second: End Layer - Please just give us the same edition that Australia is getting. Like, holy crap it looks amazing. Also, still haven't played the original, so this'll probably have to be back-burner-ed too. DAMN ALL THE RPGS! So many with so little time. But they all look sooooooo good.

Great post Crono! Man, I lamented on this over the weekend. I've reached the point that i have so many quality games stuck in my backlog, that I'm really apprehensive of getting any more games. However, with that said: Zelda - this is literally the last shot for me. I adore Zelda, but the most recent releases have really sullied the series for me. Just my opinion, and feel free to disagree, but Skyward Sword broke my god damn heart. Unplayable due to gimmicky controls. Hoping the new game is a return to form. Torment: Tides of Numenera - a spiritual sequel of sorts to Planescape Torment, set in the futuristic 9th World created by Monte Cook. A ge set a BILLION years in the future. Wowweeeee. But legit, the 9th world is a very interesting setting, that has unlimited possibilities. Old tech is not understood, too much has been lost to the sands of time, and they just consider all this stuff to be Numenera. Or, magic. Opens alot of possibilities. Mirrors Edge Catalyst - cannot wait. Wanna see what DICE have done with the reboot. The news that you cant even use guns got me popping a nerd boner like mad. Dark Souls III - the conclusion to a series that I equally love and hate. I've been watching alot of lore vids from epicnamebro in anticipation. Hoping its gooooood. Honourable Mentions The Division - I wanna like this. But I aint touching unisoft games until theyve settled in with patches and discounts. Ubisoft really damaged their rep in my eyes. Gunna take a lot to reclaim my trust. Mass Effect Andromeda theyre still claimig for a q4 release..... yeah right. We'll see it March 2017

Here is link to a list of 10 under-the-radar games for 2016 (hopefully..). A couple sound really interesting. Can someone explain Fire Emblem Fates to me because I don't understand it at all :[ I looked on Amazon and there's two games, and on Gamefaqs there's three Fire Emblem Fates games listed...what is happening? lol. I love Awakening so much and am so excited for a new one, but I have no idea which one is the game I want? Oh and Zelda Twilight Princess HD in a month!!! I'm so happy one of my favorite games is being redone in HD. Valkyria Chronicles is getting an HD remaster as well! Agreed Andy, the controls completely ruined Skyward Sword for me. They are such shit, and there should have just been an option for caveman controls like Twilight Princess had. Did you try the 3DS game A Link Between Worlds? It's pretty solid :] Not sure if you have a 3DS or not though. Edited by NinjaPenguin8969, Feb 5 2016, 07:39 PM.

The Nintendo Direct explains it best, but there will be two physical versions and then the one after those two to be DLC only as I understand it. In each of the two physical release versions, you align with one of two kingdoms depending on which game you buy. The third in the series which is the DLC has you aligning with neither kingdom. There is a special edition that comes with all three versions of the game, although I'm not sure if that means the two physical ones and then some type of code to download the third, or if this is the only way to get the third one in a physical form. |

I missed out on the SE by the looks of it :[ I loved Awakening so I think I'm going to get both...but probably start with Birthright since it's easier. Also Street Fighter V can lick my taint. Not even arcade mode? Blow me Capcom, not tolerating that. |
